Jack Welch talked to regional leaders
How to win

One of the best known managers of the 20th century, Jack Welch, visited Zagreb on 17 May as a special guest of the regional "Adris Business Forum". Within the forum a Round Table discussion entitled "Leadership in South-Eastern Europe" took place. Panelists were chief executive officers of major companies in the region, among them Gordana Kovačević, president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

Welch gave a lecture to managers on how to lead a company to success by applying quality leadership and innovative business policy. The mentioned Round Table itself was very interesting. Beside the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, the participants were Igor Bavčar, president of the Board of Istrabenz Slovenia, Predrag Mihajlović deputy president of the Executive Committee of the Commercial Bank of Serbia, Darko Marinac, president of the Board of Podravka and chairman of the Croatian National Competitiveness Council and Milan Horvat, president of the Board of FIMA Holding. They discussed the outlook for and the development direction of the Croatian economy and of the national economies in the region. Gordana Kovačević shared her experience in company management, her company being a leading ICT company in the region with a position in global Ericsson, and she emphasized that knowledge and competence are business drivers and not cost optimization. " We have an Ericsson development center in Croatia because we have demonstrated that we can lead and not only follow".  Other major topics of the forum were how to become and how to stay a successful organization in the global market and how to achieve long-term advantages and leave the competitors behind.
