Integrated primary health care information system put into operation

Ivo Sanader, the Prime Minister of RH officially put into operation the integrated primary health care information system. This is the first and major step toward a total informatization of the national health care system, a strategic objective of the Croatian government that should improve the quality of life for all Croatian citizens. In his keynote address the Prime Minister specifically named the Central Office for e-Croatia, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla, as those to who credit goes for the successful project implementation.

Senior government officials, prominent representatives of health care and related disciplines and many journalists attended the opening ceremony. They were addressed by Miroslav Kovačić, State Secretary in the Central Office for e-Croatia, Neven Ljubičić, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare and Gordana Kovačević, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

Gordana Kovačević emphasized in her speech that with this project and the solution developed and delivered by Ericsson Nikola Tesla the company had proved its maturity in handling a highly complex ICT system integration project. Owing to its leadership in e-systems the company was given global responsibility within Ericsson for e-health which opens door to global trade. Gordana Kovačević expressed her thanks to all company team members who worked on this demanding task and made the company a trend setter in this area.

The layered system that links several health care entities the core of which was developed owing to the knowledge, innovativeness and creativity of Ericsson Nikola Tesla's specialists and its complex functionality was presented with a video clip. Dr. Dragomir Petrić, family physician from Split and a "live" TV interview from Dr. Katarina Mioč's office in the Health Care Center in Zagreb confirmed the advantages of the new work organization and highly satisfactory personal experience. To conclude the opening program the most recent technology solution was presented - Ericsson's Mobile Health solution that enables vital medical functions to be measured and data to be transmitted to a remote destination. Thus high-quality medical care and service can be provided to patients on remote locations.

The presented first step towards e-health will undoubtedly be of great value to physicians, medical nurses, medical insurance institutions, public health care institutions and all other medical professionals. The primary quality of the system is that it is patient-oriented and that it diminishes the administrative work and waiting time and at the same time it offers increased medical service quality and speed.
