Croatian leading exporter of advanced telecommunications solutions, Ericsson Nikola Tesla has been very successful in its activities in the Belarus market in the first part of July this year. The company signed two contracts whose joint value exceeds HRK 200 million within both the wireline and wireless telecommunications segments.

Recently Ericsson Nikola Tesla signed a contract for one new tandem AXE exchange for the city of Gomel with Beltelecom, Belarus, amounting to HRK 4 million. This is the third contract in a row related to the modernization of Beltelecom wireline infrastructure in Belarus in this year. The contracted communications system is to be produced, delivered and implemented until December 1, 2005.

In the first part of July Ericsson Nikola Tesla achieved yet another, even more important business success, this time within the wireless area: the company signed the contract for the GSM network extension with the first mobile operator in the Republic of Belarus - JV MDC Velcom. The total contract value is HRK 202.3 million. This job includes the core GSM system expansion for up to 2 million subscribers. More precisely, the contract stipulates the delivery of switching and radio equipment, transmission systems and Intellectual platform, which will facilitate the implementation of new services for JV MDC, such as Prepaid, VPN, Location Based Services and other Value Added Services as well as delivery of Ericsson professional services. The contract was signed by the general director of JV MDC Velcom, G.V Melnikov.and Zvonko Bićanić, Regional Director for Belarus and Moldova from Ericsson Nikola Tesla. The finalization of this significant project is planned for the end of the year 2005.
