The contracts were signed in Sarajevo: the signatories were Gordana Kovačević, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Hamdo Katica, the president of BH Telecom. Jan Campbell, the president of Ericsson's MU Central Europe, Jagoda Carić, director of Marketing and Sales for BiH and Montenegro, and Adnan Halimić, director of Ericsson BiH and others attended the ceremony.
The first contract, worth over 1,6 million euros, covers the supply of equipment required for the extension of existing capacities of base stations and BSC software licenses. With this investment that shall be realized by the end of 2005, the capacity of GSM network of BH Telecom shall be increased, the GSM signal coverage shall be extended and the mobile communication service raised to a higher (performance) level.
The subject matter of other two contracts is fixed telephony; the contracts cover the delivery of hardware, software, installation material and spare parts as well as the provision of services related to installation, implementation and integration of new and the extension of existing subscriber stages in the areas of Velika Kladuša (Head Office Bihać) and Nemile (Head Office Zenica). When performed, these contracts worth over 845 thousand euros, will secure access to new, improved services for users of BH Telecom's fixed network in the mentioned areas.
"In the past the cooperation between the two companies was very good; with the contracts signed today we have confirmed that this successful cooperation is to be continued in the future. We appreciate the efforts on the part of Ericsson Nikola Tesla to keep pace with further development of telecom systems in their entirety and to transfer knowledge and experience into BiH, thus incorporating BH Telecom into global telecommunications with emphasis on the development of the information society", said Mr. Hamdo Katica.
"The presence of Ericsson Nikola Tesla in the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the decades is also attested by today's contracts with BH Telecom dealing with mobile and fixed telephony", pointed out Gordana Kovačević, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla and continued: "We work with BH Telecom as partners on the same assignment. The purpose of this assignment is to implement the most recent telecom equipment, solutions and services so that people living here get access to information and modern knowledge required for the fast growth and development of the society they live in", said Mrs. Kovačević after she signed the contracts.
