On July 5 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of birth of Nikola Tesla the Croatian president Stjepan Mesić awarded several Croatian scientists and business people who contributed by their work to preservation and promotion of Nikola Tesla's heritage with The Order of the Croatian Star with the Effigy of Nikola Tesla. One of the recipients of the Order was M.Sc. Gordana Kovčević, president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla. The company was awarded in the same ceremony by The Charter of the Republic of Croatia for its significant contribution to the development of the Croatian economy and science.

Croatia appreciates knowledge, innovativeness and initiative, pointed out president Mesić in his address during the ceremony in which the awards related to the Year of Nikola Tesla were handed out. We wish to honor those who promote these values in our society by their work, said the Croatian president.
 
After the ceremony M.Sc. Gordana Kovačević, president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla spoke in the name of the recipients of the Order and thanked president Mesić for the recognition of the effort and persistence that they dedicated to the promotion of the values applied by Nikola Tesla - creativity, innovative approach, focus on future, support to the development of the community.

The fact that Ericsson Nikola Tesla was awarded by The Charter of the Republic of Croatia is another confirmation that Croatia understands the importance of competence development in the modern world as an important part of the national brand. Ericsson Nikola Tesla stands proud to be the first Croatian company set against such context.
