The president of ETK informed the audience about the business year 2005 and the financial aspects of business operations, also about the social responsibility of the company and its activities aimed at retaining its best employer status. She also announced projects the company is involved in, which should mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla, the genius of worldwide reputation.
Gordana Kovačević dwelled on the role of the R&D Center Split in the business performance of the company. This Center, founded in 1982, is an important part of the ETK Research and Development Center and is integrated into all ETK activities. Today it is the largest and most important research and development unit in Dalmatia. It employs 160 specialists, 98 percent of them being university graduates.
The experts of the center foster a creative and inventive approach to work, they permanently widen their knowledge, cherish teamwork, have well-developed management skills and are focused on customer success. Together with other experts of the Research and Development Center, they build the image of ETK R&D Center in the Ericsson Corporation based on competence, excellence, reliability and cost efficiency. Accordingly, they also deserve credit for new responsibilities ETK obtains from the Corporation.
ETK president also mentioned that research work is done in close collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University in Split. This collaboration is a good example of interconnection between economic subjects and scientific-educational institutions in Croatia.
Gordana Kovačević emphasized that these activities of ETK Research and Development Center in Split have a positive influence on the regional economy. Thus Ericsson Nikola Tesla supports the employment of young and creative university graduates, disseminates knowledge and experience by promoting and implementing new information - communication technologies. The company allocates part of its funds to donations and sponsorships, thus supporting educational, scientific, cultural, sports, humanitarian and other socially favorable projects in Dalmatia.
Zvonimir Puljić, the Mayor and Dr. Dinko Begušić, congratulated ETK president on good business performance in 2005. The mayor emphasized the significance this research and development center has for Split, so that beside tourism Split now has relevance in the scientific area as well. The dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture commented on increasingly stronger collaboration of experts and students from the Faculty with ETK experts in Split in a number of projects, in the common planning and performance of educational activities and in the employment of graduates, forty of them only last year.
