MIPRO 2006 
Under the sign of the Year of Nikola Tesla

MIPRO is the largest international conference on information-communications technology in the Republic of Croatia and in the broader region and this year it is taking place in Opatija, on May 22 - 26. Ericsson Nikola Tesla is participating in this year's MIPRO, the 29th in the row, with a number of activities and it is the general sponsor of the conference.

The company Ericsson Nikola Tesla is also involved in a number of activities marking the Year of Nikola Tesla. Under this motto Croatia celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla and pays honor to this world-renowned scientist to whom mankind is indebted for his revolutionary inventions and patents. Nikola Tesla enabled a great technological progress and better life for many people in the world. The company also initiated that the MIPRO convention should dedicate time and due credit to the genius Nikola Tesla.


MIPRO was formally opened on Wednesday, May 24th at 11.00 a.m.  and in its opening plenary session Gordana Kovačević, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, spoke on the topic "Nikola Tesla from vision to reality - the viewpoint of Ericsson Nikola Tesla". In her talk she presented Nikola Tesla's vast legacy and also the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla that in pursuit of Nikola Tesla's inventions supplies the cutting-edge communication solutions. She mentioned numerous Ericsson Nikola Tesla's activities contributing to the company's and the state's celebration of 2006 - the Year of Nikola Tesla.


The president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla also took part in the Round Table Discussion related to the topic "Nikola Tesla: yesterday, today and tomorrow", together with Professor Slobodan Uzelac, the state secretary for college education in the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport; Zlatko Kniewald, a member of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Science and chairman of the Croatian Academy of Technical Science, HATZ; Professor Petar Biljanović, the chairman of the programme committee of the Croatian MIPRO Association; Professor Mladen Kos, the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing Science in Zagreb; Božica Škulj, the director of the Technical Museum in Zagreb; Assistant Professor Livio Šušnjić, the head of the Department for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of the Technical Faculty in Rijeka; Nikola Bruketa, director of the Development Unit of the Croatian Power Industry and Assistant Professor Zoran Blažević from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split. The Round Table was hosted by Krešimir Mišak, the program manager and host of the HTV telecast "At the fringes of science". The Round Table Talks were well attended and highly interesting.


Beside the mentioned activities, a number of specialists from the company are participating in various MIPRO sessions. The company presented itself with an exhibition that connects Tesla's inventions with the company's business excellence. At this year's MIPRO over one thousand participants from the world of science, education and industry and trade are expected.
