The Document Management conference took place on 30th and 31st Jan 2007 in the Congress Hall at the Zagreb Fair. The conference was organized by Infoarena and partly sponsored by Ericsson Nikola Tesla. It was attended by some 200 representatives of Croatian companies and institutions. Such a great interest was not surprising considering the fact that businesses in Croatia are involved in an intensive search for and selection of a specialized document management system.
This is closely connected with EU guidelines which recommend the documents to be managed in a quality-oriented, transparent way and to process and archive them (e-mails, talks, SMS, contracts) in a defined, standardized way. The CARDS program provided certain amounts from the EU funds for such projects and some of them already have been successfully implemented, for instance in the judicature and government administration. In addition to that, in 2005 the Croatian Sabor (Parliament) enacted the Electronic Document Bill. It is a key tool defining the digitalization and digital storage of documents and contents and it supports the implementation/ introduction of digital documents into business operations, and consequently it encourages the implementation of advanced document management solutions.
