There were eighteen reputable Croatian companies that stood as candidates for the title of a Friend of the Family. Their representatives gathered in the Croatian Chamber of Commerce on May 15 to participate in the ceremony at which the winner was announced - Ericsson Nikola Tesla. The introductory wordy by Nadan Vidošević, President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce together with the warm welcome offered congratulations to all participants in this initiative as by taking part in it the companies demonstrated their awareness of the importance of the high standards of care for their employees' wellbeing. In this elite group Ericsson Nikola Tesla was recognized as a company leading the way. The reasons based on which the Ministry made the decision to grant the title Company - Friend of the Family to Ericsson Nikola Tesla were specified by Jadranka Kosor, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of the Family, Veterans' Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity. Among many Ericsson Nikola Tesla's practices aimed at creating a great place of work for its employees she pointed out that the company has organized the care of the pre-school children of its employees, that it offers financial support to parents on maternity leave, that it enables working from home and competence development, organizes annual party for its employees and members of their families and has a number of other activities that show care for the general wellbeing of its employees.
The diploma was received by the President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Gordana Kovačević who emphasized the satisfaction that the company's efforts to create a great place of work for its employees have been recognized by the governmental officials. "Striving to implement the actions aimed at social responsibility Ericsson Nikola Tesla ensures prosperity and growth for all its stakeholders. The company bases its successful operation on the quality of its intellectual capital. Therefore the investments in the increased living and professional standards of the company's employees are a very important part of the company strategy," commented Gordana Kovačević and congratulated to colleagues from other Croatian companies that participated in this initiative and thanked the Ministry of the Family, Veterans' Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce for launching the project.
The first Croatian company to receive the title Company - Friend of the Family is Ericsson Nikola Tesla, however considering that many other companies apply diversified measures of employee care there are considerations to start nominating them next year in several different categories.
