Vipnet became the first in Europe to present the Vip HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) network and offered thereby mobile access to the Internet at a higher speed than ADSL. To use speeds of 3.6 or even up to 7.2 Mbit/s in download via the HSDPA technology Vipnet offered a new Vodafone Mobile Connect HSDPA+ Card. Customers can also use already existing devices - the Vodafone Mobile Connect PC Express Card and Vodafone Mobile Connect modem. Devices can work on 3.6 Mbit/s speed. Customers will have the possibility to upgrade their devices to 7.2 from the end of March at no extra charges, when the manufacturer is expected to deliver the new software.
Vipnet has also integrated the HSUPA technology, which offers speeds of up to 1.4 Mbit/s in uplink and it will also be available to the customers when the manufacturers provide an offer for devices and software. This will make it even easier for the customers to use the Internet to send and receive data. The partnership between Vipnet and Ericsson Nikola Tesla that provided the software solution and expertise in design and optimization of the radio access network in this project was thus strengthened.
"Vipnet was the first in Croatia to introduce the HSDPA technology less than a year ago and the latest upgrade of the Vip HSDPA network confirms that we make a serious contribution to the broadband Internet development strategy and development of the Croatian economy. Our investments in mobile broadband will bridge the broadband gap between Croatia and most European countries which are already more developed," stated Marie-Helene Magenschab, CEO of Vipnet. She also pointed out that this new important step would have been impossible without the partnership with Ericsson Nikola Tesla.
"Together with Vipnet Ericsson Nikola Tesla introduces new ICT technologies in the Croatian market. It is an example of synergies of the two companies of knowledge that together contribute to better ICT services, and life in general, in Croatia. It is a strategic policy of our cooperation to bring into Croatia the latest mobile communications technologies, simultaneously with their appearance in developed countries of Europe and the world," commented Gordana Kovačević, president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.
Alen Ludaš, KAM Vipnet joins the comments: "I have to say that we are very proud that we cooperate with customers such as Vipnet, i.e. mobilkom Austria Group, that have a clear vision of development and that are ready to invest in new access technologies".
