The public presentation of the Intelligent Traffic Control system took place in the Zagreb municipality premises. The presented system is the result of cooperation activities of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Institute of Transportation and Communications and Peek traffic.
The introductory speeches were given by Mr. Milan Bandić, the city mayor, and Ms Gordana Kovačevic, MSEE, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla. Afterwards, the approach to the traffic system development for the city of Zagreb was presented by Prof. Ivan Dadić, DSc. the President of the management council of the Institute of Transportation and Communications, Mr. Snješko Smailović the director of Peek Traffic and Mr. Boris Drilo, the director Innovations, Marketing &Portfolio Management, of a unit in Ericsson Nikola Tesla. The technical support to the presentation was given by Zdenko Kljaić and Oliver Kesak, both specialists employed with Ericsson Nikola Tesla.
With regard to the constantly increasing number of vehicles participating in the daily traffic of Zagreb, it is a must to introduce an efficient traffic system control, which will solve the present problem in the city. The figures show some 520 thousands vehicles in the daily traffic and for the period of five years to come, it is expected that the given figure will reach more than 800 thousand. This means a further challenge for the economic and demographic development of the city, being a modern European capital
