The recently published report, titled SMART 2020, says that the change in way people and business use technology, caused by use of modern ICT solutions, the global greenhouse gas emission, as the consequence of human activities could be reduced by 15 percent by 2020, and result in energy efficiency savings to global businesses of over EUR 500 billion.
By constant introduction of innovative Information & Communications products and services, ICT sector changes our way of life, work, learning and entertainment. ICT systematically increases the productivity and supports the economic growth, both in developed and developing countries, with the reduction in greenhouse gasses emission and increase in the energy efficiency. The given facts were published in the SMART 2020 report, along with results of the case study carried out in common by the independent non-profit organization the Climate Group (www.theclimategroup.org) and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI). SMART 2020 report was presented in the eve of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, and it gave the survey of selected projects, which already today belong to the top of sustainable solutions, and can be used as guidelines for future development by governments and business sector.
Ericsson Corporation nominated the solution e-Health Croatia by Ericsson Nikola Tesla, for the current year report. It is about the primary Healthcare Networking Information System in Croatia. After the independent evaluation of the nominated solutions by the world leading ICT companies, the organizer decided to recommend this solution and include it in the Report of top 25.
