On the occasion of the gala assembly of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (Hrvatska gospodarska komora – HGK),held on Feb. 28 in the evening, at the National and University Library in Zagreb, the most successful Croatian companies, banks, assurance agencies and individuals were awarded for their performance in 2010. It was about the traditional awards Zlatna kuna for excellence in company business performance, acknowledgements for innovations, supports by the foundation „Croatian Creation“, labels „Croatian Quality“ and “Croatian Creation” given to new products, and the awards for socially responsible business practice.
The Zlatna kuna awarding ceremony was attended by prominent individuals from economy and social life in the county. The adequate speeches, to celebrate the Croatian Chamber of Economy anniversary, were given by Nadan Vidošević, the president of HGK and Jadranka Kosor, the Prime minister, who addressed the audience and TV spectators.
HGK and Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development awarded the best Croatian companies for the corporate social responsibility. In the large companies category the award was given to Ericsson Nikola Tesla for positive business practice in all areas of corporate social responsibility. HGK president, Nadan Vidošević handed in the award to MSc Gordana Kovačević, B.E.E. the president of ETK.
In a comment to the award Gordana Kovačević underlined that for quite a number of years Ericsson Nikola Tesla has already implemented in its long-term strategy the top world standards and the best practices as concerns the corporate social responsibility in all its segments, and all interested parties. Being a part of Ericsson Corporation, and the leading ICT company of the region, we are aware of our role as social changes driver. We have recognized our role and the responsibility for society development in the segment where we are the strongest and where we can achieve the most, i.e. in ICT industry. The practice shows that our innovative solutions and services have positive impact to people, business and society. They offer the possibility for better life, and better business performance results, they keep safe the resources and have a positive impact to the environment. The industry we work in, has been recognized as the driver for other industries and all society structures. Besides, ICT industry can provide a more competitive appearance of Croatian companies in the world market, and contribute the struggles of the country to get out of the recession faster, as we all wish to.
This award proves that our concept of a socially responsible performance has been recognized in the society. This is additional encouragement to be persistent and further empower the social responsibility of our company. In addition, Ericsson Nikola Tesla president expressed her hope that CSR index criteria will soon be an integral part of criteria for Zlatna kuna award, which is the top award for economy in Croatia. This is the only way for the socially responsible business performance and practice to become a part of a sustainable development strategy in Croatian economy and a society as such.
