HR.Business 2031, The Future Starts Now
ICT - key for development

The conference, titled The Future Starts Now, organized by HR.Business 2031, was held on June 1 in Zagreb. It gathered numerous specialists from various fields of activities with main intention to offer their view of Croatia in 20-year time. Having in mind the 100-year and 200-year development prediction models for South Korea and Japan, the goal of this gathering was to find the vision for Croatia by 2031. The vision set on the given predictions should be a foundation for definition of strategies and methods to achieve Croatian strategic goals.

 

The Conference attended the leading people from various sectors in Croatia and presented their ideas and plans for Croatia development in the decades to come. Numerous prominent speakers discussed the future of technology, work force market and education, development opportunities for Croatian companies, employers' contributions to society, development of Croatian regions with their peculiarities, as well as trends in energetic segment. Among those who addressed the audience was Gordana Kovačević MSc., the president of Ericssona Nikola Tesla.


During the panel discussion titled:  „Are we able at all, to discuss about technologies, which we are even do not know that will be developed“, Gordana Kovačević presented our vision of networked society, and Croatia development, and quoted: „By the year 2020 the transmission of a huge volume of data at even higher rates are expected. According to Ericsson vision, there will be some 50 billion networked units at that time. When it is about Croatia, if we increase the broadband networking implementation by 15 percent only, we well have 270 thousand new jobs and the increase of GDP by 30 percent.” However, as Ms Kovačević underlined, recent ICT analysis show that we are lagging behind the world, and that we must bridge that gap, since  Croatia has a potentials, for industry in information and communications technology for research and development centers enabling us to offer export products. Within this context, she mentioned competences needed for future networked society and the livelong education and innovativeness that is necessary for survival. She added, “In the long run, you cannot survive if you are not the best and at the top of quality.  Therefore it is inevitable to create innovative organization culture, invest in knowledge and top talents who shall be given opportunity to work and develop themselves on demanding projects”.
