VivaCell-MTS launched pilot program based on Ericsson Mobile Health Solution

Mobile operator VivaCell-MTS and Yerevan State Medical University have together during the Third Medical Congress of Armenia, held on July 7-8, presented mHealth pilot program, based on wireless technology and Ericsson Mobile Health solution. This innovative solution is aimed at creating a new improved means to provide population with better access to health care services.

The solution provides the doctor with the chance to establish remote control over the health of the patient, and the patient has the chance to send out information on their health with the help of VivaCell-MTS network. In that way medical employee can carry out analysis of the data collected by different sensors like spirometer or EKG, which is sent to the medical employee via mobile network.

“VivaCell-MTS, as a leader in the telecom sphere, rushes as always to find any opportunity that could bring benefit to the nation. Today we present the innovative solutions in a life-critical field such as medicine. We put our mobile network, the widest in Armenia, and technical resources at the discretion of those compatriots for whom being under continuous monitoring by their doctors is extremely important. On the other side, VivaCell-MTS is using innovative solutions for facilitating the everyday work of health care practitioners, by giving them modern, high-quality and effective tools,” described VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

For the first time in Armenia the Mobile Health solution became available to the medical body in the country. Patients will be able to conduct medical measurements at home and instantly send health-related data remotely via VivaCell-MTS network to their doctors for monitoring using special mobile health equipment. This will mean both convenience and fast follow up on patient’s situation. Together with the Yerevan Medical State University, the mobile health equipment will be put in use as of September as a pilot project, at the pilot site of Yerevan Medical State University.

Ericsson Mobile Health solution was demonstrated at VivaCell-MTS pavilion in cooperation with Ericsson Nikola Tesla experts and it roused significant interest of medical specialists. Piloting and successful roll-out of mHealth is critical for attaining long-term objectives set in the sphere of public health. This is an important milestone toward strengthening Armenia’s competitive advantage in health care in the whole region, as was said in the local and regional media.

Global analysts think that mHealth technologies still have a huge unrealized potential to address global challenges in the healthcare. Because of that, among many innovative solution in all key spheres of social life, Ericsson corporation pays a special attention to the innovations in the healthcare, where Ericsson Nikola Tesla has a significant role.
