Vipnet and Ericsson Nikola Tesla launch first LTE network in Croatia

Vipnet gave a press release that the fist LTE network launched in Croatia, which is a result of partnership with Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

 

Gordana Kovačević, MSc, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, said about this partnership: “We are proud that Vipnet, together with Ericsson Nikola Tesla, was the first in Croatia to put into commercial operation LTE network as soon as regulatory requirements are fulfilled. As a part of Ericsson Corporation, Ericsson Nikola Tesla is focused to Vipnet business operation. This operator is our strategic and very innovative partner. Therefore, we are extremely glad that Vipnet has recognized the power of domestic company, which is the first to bring to Croatia the world achievements in the industry. In this way, we jointly contribute the development of Croatian telecom market, and influence the faster recovery of the domestic economy.

 

By the number of commercial contracts, Ericsson is the leader in the market, with a share of more than 60 percent. The latest data show that Ericsson has realized 45 contracts on LTE/EPC (Evolved Packet Core) in 23 countries in five continents. Thus, Ericsson LTE networks cover some 215 million end users. Ericsson is open standard key driver and so far, had the greatest impact LTE of all. It owns 25 percent of all key patents in the area of LTE technology. Today, more than 40 percent of world mobile goes through Ericsson networks, and this corporation offers support for networks covering more than 2 billion subscribers.
