Largest professional and scientific ICT conference in the region 
MIPRO 2008 opens on 26th May and runs through Friday 30th

Zlatko Komadina, the prefect of Primorsko-goranska County opened the 31st international ICT conference MIPRO 2008 in Opatija. He opened the event on behalf of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Stjepan Mesić. The conference is taking place at the Grand Hotel Adriatic and the Admiral Hotel from 26th to 30th May.
The president of the Croatian MIPRO Association, Dr. Sc. Vedran Mornar, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing Science, welcomed the audience.  Dr. Sc. Petar Biljanović, the MIPRO Program Committee Chairman, informed the audience of this year's MIPRO conference program.

 

During the opening ceremony charters were given to individuals in recognition of their merit in MIPRO development; also awards for best scientific and professional papers were given.


Among 260 papers presented, top three were equally awarded: one of them a paper by Mario Ivček from Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Tihana Galinac from the University of Rijeka, entitled “Aspects of Quality Assurance in Global Software Development Organization”.

 

Ivan Vidaković, CEO of IBM Croatia and hi-tech expert held this year's highly attractive plenary lecture „Technology and globalization“. He talked about technology development and its impact on modern world and the opportunities the nanotechnology may provide soon.

 

Among the most interesting sessions of this year's MIPRO we would like to emphasize the „Telecommunication and Information“ featuring a number of papers prepared by our specialists and the round table on „Multimedia as a driver for current communication service development“ organized by Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Croatian MIPRO Association.
